Hydrothermal Transformation of Eggshell Calcium Carbonate into Apatite Micro-Nanoparticles: Cytocompatibility and Osteoinductive Properties

چکیده
The eggshell is a biomineral consisting of CaCO3 in the form calcite phase and pervading organic matrix (1–3.5 wt.%). Transforming particles into calcium phosphate (apatite) micro-nanoparticles opens door to repurposing waste as materials with potential biomedical applications, fulfilling principles circular economy. Previous methods obtain these consisted mainly two steps, first one involving calcination eggshell. In this research, direct transformation by one-pot hydrothermal method ranging from 100–200 °C was studied, using suspensions stoichiometric P/CaCO3 ratio, K2HPO4 P reagent, eggshells (Ø < 50 μm) both untreated treated NaClO remove surface matter. group, complete conversion achieved at 160 °C, most displayed hexagonal plate morphology, eventually central hole. replacement occurred 180 yielding granular (spherulitic) apatite nanoparticles. were cytocompatible when incubated MG-63 human osteosarcoma cells m17.ASC murine mesenchymal stem promoted osteogenic differentiation cells. study results are useful for designing fabricating biocompatible microstructured osteoinductive properties applications bone tissue engineering dentistry.

Preparation, physical-chemical characterisation and cytocompatibility of calcium carbonate cements.
The feasibility of calcium carbonate cements involving the recrystallisation of metastable calcium carbonate varieties has been demonstrated. Calcium carbonate cement compositions presented in this paper can be prepared straightforwardly by simply mixing water (liquid phase) with two calcium carbonate phases (solid phase) which can be easily obtained by precipitation. An original cement composi...
متن کاملEngineering of Carbonate Apatite Bone Substitute Based on Composition-Transformation of Gypsum and Calcium Hydroxide
Even though a lot of research has been carried out concerning the preparation of carbonate apatite (CHA), they were related to CHA in the form of powder. In the present study, macroporous CHA bone substitutes were prepared through composition-transformation of gypsum and Ca-hydroxide. Here, we investigated the effect of added Ca-hydroxide to gypsum, carbonation periods, and hydrothermal tempera...

15 صفحه اولIleal Digestibility and Bone Retention of Calcium in Diets Containing Eggshell, Oyster Shell or Inorganic Calcium Carbonate in Broiler Chickens
This study was conducted to compare ileal digestibility of calcium, dry matter and ash, growth performance, gut characteristics, bone parameters and retention of calcium in broiler chickens fed diets containing different calcium sources. A total of 96 commercial Ross 308 broiler chickens were allocated to three experimental diets. The experimental diets included a diet containing inorganic calc...
متن کاملGene Delivery Potential of Biofunctional Carbonate Apatite Nanoparticles in Lungs
Existing nonviral gene delivery systems to lungs are inefficient and associated with dose limiting toxicity in mammalian cells. Therefore, carbonate apatite (CO3Ap) nanoparticles were examined as an alternative strategy for effective gene delivery to the lungs. This study aimed to (1) assess the gene delivery efficiency of CO3Ap in vitro and in mouse lungs, (2) evaluate the cytotoxicity effect ...
